Business Takes Action

Business Takes Action (BTA) is a unique program that showcases the benefits of hiring and retaining candidates with disabilities. Filling future talent shortages and having staff that reflect the market place are becoming top concerns for many employers. BTA challenges small to medium-sized businesses on how to leverage the strength and competitive advantages of inclusivity through complimentary workshops, networking opportunities and guide books; BTA is Ontario’s leader in the field of promoting disability inclusion at work and highly sought after for their comprehensive knowledge of best practices and legislation.

As one of CME’s Best Practices program, Business Takes Action understands that employers from all sectors want to hire the best talents. Our program demonstrates the business benefits of an inclusive culture and how creating a corporate culture that accommodates people with disabilities is a positive step for your company.

Taking Action is an interactive human resources guide that will help your business drive ROI through successful talent acquisition strategy. The Manufacturing Leadership Certificate Program (MLCP)

The Manufacturing Leadership Certificate Program (MLCP) has been developed through a training partnership of CME and five Ontario Community Colleges. Global competition, the development of advanced technologies and other economic challenges are rapidly changing the way Canadian business and industry operates. Supervisors have felt the impact of the changes most dramatically. Today's manufacturing supervisors must demonstrate multifaceted leadership combined with a high level of technical expertise. The Manufacturing Leadership Certificate Program is exactly what you need if you are a supervisor, manager or have goals targeted in that direction.

Faced with the challenging economic conditions and technological changes of the early 1990s, manufacturers in Ontario's Golden Horseshoe partnered with their local community colleges - Conestoga, Georgian, Mohawk, Niagara and Sheridan - to identify training needs of the manufacturing sector and to develop appropriate solutions. The result of all of these efforts was the Manufacturing Leadership Certificate Program, coordinated centrally by CME and the five College Training and Education Alliance.

From our early days in 1993 with a grand total of 64 registrations, MLCP has grown. We now have five partner colleges and, with the addition of Fleming College in January 2008, eight associate colleges. These associates include Fanshawe, Humber, Loyalist, Nova Scotia Community College, St. Clair, St. Lawrence and Sault. We now have approximately 11,800 registrations and 3,048 participants! The numbers speak for themselves as testimony of the credibility of the program and its effectiveness in assisting manufacturers to achieve their organizational goals and objectives through upgrading of their most critical resource - their employees.
