CME Ontario runs a number of policy committees that are actively involved in the critical issues that affect the bottom line. Committees provide a forum for members to advance concerns, develop policy positions, advocate for change and network with government officials and other business leaders. For more information or to get involved, please contact Ian Howcroft at 905-672-3466 ext. 3256 or ian.howcroft@cme-mec.ca
Buy American has been the biggest issue between Canada and the US in recent history. CME has taken the lead on behalf of its members to spur Canadian government action to mitigate the adverse consequences of Buy American restrictions on Canadian exporters. Our efforts led to Canada and the US announcing an agreement coming into force on February 16, 2010 that allows Canadian manufacturers to participate in a number of infrastructure projects funded by ARRA, and permanently opens procurement markets in 37 US states. CME. Leadership makes the difference.
