Ministers “Tell it like it is” in southern Ontario

Published by CME webmaster on November 02, 2010

More and more we see that economic linkages from resource development in Alberta can be found across Canada. This was one of the messages conveyed by Alberta International and Intergovernmental Relations Minister Iris Evans, Energy Minister Ron Liepert and Environment Minister Rob Renner during their recent mission to southern Ontario.
There was significant receptiveness not only to the economic linkages between the two provinces, including jobs and contracts, but to the future for research and technology development opportunities afforded by Alberta oil sands production.  Alberta’s resource is in fact Canada’s opportunity.

Through this mission the ministers were able to convey a more targeted and detailed message regarding the opportunities and challenges associated with oil sands development.  The result was a far greater degree of understanding among key Ontario audiences as to the linkages and importance of the development of this “national treasure”.
